Short History
The Fall River Philatelic Society was organized back in the mid 1970's when a group of local stamp collectors formed a club where philatelists could share their hobby. At the time there was a stamp store in the downtown area and it proved a gathering place for stamp collectors. The club officially became a chapter (#1090) of the American Philatelic Society (APS) in December of 1978. The club met at the Sons of Italy Hall on Covel St. in Fall River. The Society had a substantial membership and ran successful stamps shows in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985 and 1986. The Society was reorganized in 1986 as Chapter #1325 of the APS. Meetings were moved to the Fall River Public Library where the club met for several years. The club has met at the Stop & Shop market for the past 15 or so years.
